Rightstuf to release Princess Knight anime

Unfortunately only the edited English dub of Princess Knight is been released on DVD, so this release can only offer nostalgia for older fans of the English version.

It is a shame we see so few Tezuka anime titles released uncut in English.

Yeah to me this was as non-news as can be because of the whole dub-only deal. I wish they would have spent their resources on translating the Japanese version instead of restoring the English one. Hardcore anime fans are more interested in the classics than ever these days, but they missed the boat with this.

Yes! Always wanted to see Princess Knight- it's never been on Youtube nor have I seen it on tv. Looks like great quality on the preview image- too!

I think that the decision to go with the dub was likely based upon offering people what they remember from childhood, rather than risking a flop product whose appeal may be limited to only a few die hard fans of the subbed version. On the other hand, I think the 1980s AB, though it used the edited dubbed version, did have a choice of languages, one being Japanese, & subs. But again, how much are they willing to risk on a project that might not break even?

Yeah, I'm inclined to not believe that as well. The Princess Knight dub wasn't exactly as well exposed as Astro Boy ot Kimba. Hell, I think more people remember the Amazing three than they do Princess Knight XD I believe this was more a case of money. Perhaps the owners of the Japanese version wanted money Rightstuf wouldn't pay so they stuck with the dub.
Unfortunately, they may have shot themselves in the foot here. I still want to buy it because as far as old dubs go, it didn't seem so bad to me (What little I've seen) but I know a LOT of anime fans do not but dubs. Period.
