I don't know where the spoilers are, but any chance we can make this a general Avatar thread?

Edit: I have yet to pick up the box sets (watched it all via netflix) and am both disappointed and pleased to note that the sets have retained their value (no used deals here!) I hope they will consider releasing a more miserly priced complete avatar box eventually, but we'll have to wait and see.

I wonder if the dvd for vol. 4 is actually going to be two discs to accommodate the five episodes (assuming there are 21 episodes as I've heard.)

I've got this on the top of my cue on netflix. Can't wait!

I finished watching season 3 yesterday. It was indeed incredible and well executed. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but certainly Avatar stands apart as an unprecedented achievement in animation for television.

Pros:

* Air Benders can "come back" as in this: It has been established it is the person's chi which allows them to bend. Aang can clearly modify anyone's chi now. One of two ways:
Either bending is chi as they established, or bending is a result of recessive genes (which makes it a biological impossibility for Air Bending to be wiped out). Either case, there can be new Air Benders.

* Zuko attacking Aang was a moment of seriousness that the kids seemed to lack. His dedication to getting Aang to get off his butt, finally forced the GAang (that's lingo for Aang's Gang) to face up to the daunting challenge ahead of them. I am glad that they finally worked together. Zuko is clearly Yin to the Avatar's YAang (pun intended). It's a shame the idiot writers waited as long as they did to pair the two up. They clearly should've had more episodes together in the third season.

* Zuko's fight with Azula was AWESOME.

* This series is definitely set up for a continuation series.

Cons:

* Pissed me off when Katara decided to watch the fight with Zuko and Azula. These people should know by now that Azula always attacks the person she thinks is weakest. She has no honor. I wanted to see Zuko brutally beat Azula down.

* Portions of Ozai's and Aang's battle were almost redundant. 30 seconds or 1 minute of that time could've been better spent showing us how kick ass Iroh - The Dragon of the West truly is. Unfortunately we never got to see more of his fighting.

* Loose End with Zuko's mother. This may be attributed to the backwards Censorship of the stupid Nickelodeon Censors. You know in that episode where they saw the play about themselves? The comments about Jet's death being "unclear" were a direct attack made by the writers against the Censors. They have openly stated how upset they were that they were prohibited from actually openly talking about people dying. Only a few times were they granted the go ahead on the subject of Death. In the long term, this form of censorship has hurt the series more than helped it - and is totally out of place. I mean seriously, we still tell our kids fairy tale stories about Snow White's step mother wanting the huntsman to cut out her heart and put it in a box. Why is it so inconceivable that kids can accept some amount of death?

* I forgot my last con. It was a good one. Oh well.

I really enjoyed the series far more than I thought I would after the debacle that was the end of the second season.

2. I don't think this story-line of the Avatar is going to be continued, and if they do, it would (as I understand anyway) just a few episodes to wrap up all remaining loose ends.

3. Personally I really liked the fight between ang and the firelord. Though redundant, the show had built its way up to this, and the animation was beautiful.

4. You didn't like the end of season 2????? You mean how it basically ended just like Empire Strikes Back, only better!!???

Zuko was totally out of character in the S2 finale. They built him up far too much with far too many good choices. What they should've done was not have given him those dream sequences until AFTER Season 3 had started, and AFTER he sided with Azula.

As it was, the whole of the plot was disjointed for Season 2 finale and it pissed me off.

They are making some live action movies, but they're going to be done with that idiot of a loser M Knight Shamlayamalawnalan . God I hate him. I think he will ruin Avatar.

The creators have nothing to do with the live action movies, but have expressed a strong interest in a sort of "Tales of the Avatar" type of series, or series of animated films. They want to explore other avatars as well as older Aang etc.. Considering how Nickelodeon mistreats its creative talent, I doubt it'll happen the way they want.

I actually found the way that Zuko sided with his sister at the end of season 2 very emotionally charged. I know what you're saying, but after mulling over it found I enjoyed the way they went with it. You really felt that Zuko had totally betrayed himself while coming right to the brink of recognizing his own destiny.

So yeah, not sure I'd call it an artistic blunder, maybe more an issue of one's personal response to it ???

If it were foreshadowing then:

* Zuko wouldn't have actually gone through his transformation.

According to Iroh the transformation was a one time choice of his path. If it were a one time choice then Zuko wouldn't have turned around and become good. It's just too many contradictions.

* There wouldn't have been 3 completely wasted episodes in season 3. God they were so horrible I couldn't stand it. It was as if the writers had no idea what to write or how to accomplish their plot mess ups. They tried to cover for Zuko in the Zuko gushes out his feelings confessions around a campfire, but all that did was make me want to turn off the t.v. There was too much backpedaling in the third season to undo what they did in the season 2 finale.

Anyway I'm not saying you have to agree with me I'm just letting you know how I picked it apart and where I thought it failed (S2 finale that is)
