Vertical to publish MW in English!?

Postby UnluckyLukeGR » Sun Jan 28, 2007 1:16 am

I was browsing amazon.ca and found this. It isn't on Vertical's site, though, so I dunno if it's real. It would be awesome if it were, though. It says it'll be released on October 16.

Oh man... that's great news. I'd say this is real, as Chapters.ca also has it listed. The fact that it's not on listed on the Vertical site is immaterial - neither is Song for Apollo last time I checked and they've already released the cover image elsewhere.

I'd heard some rumours that MW might be coming down the pipe, but this is the first confirmation I've seen.

MW is possibly the darkest of Tezuka's works (duking it out with Alabaster). It's really the summation of Tezuka's exploration of 'charismatic evil'. I've read it in French and was totally blown away. Even more than Kirihito though, this one is absolutely adult material.

Great catch though, it must've just gone up because I fish through amazon.ca and chapters.ca regularly.

It really is a golden age for English-isolated Tezuka fans. Can't wait for more, Kirihito was so good!

I wonder if Cleopatra will ever be released in English again.

Hopefully, the title will be "Cleopatra", instead of "Cleopatra: Queen of Sex".

My parents would never let me get anything with the title "Cleopatra: Queen of Sex".

Then you surely shouldn't let Kirihito lay around so they can see it. I found it quite hard. Sex-wise too...

calms down and catches breath.

I'm rather fond of MW, you see...

MW doesn't stand for anything, it's the name of a thing in the story. You'll see when you read it.

I liked the ending, personally. I think it depends on how one feels about evil.

Which is more disturbing; Ode to Kirihito or MW?

Note to cmoon: STOP GIVING AWAY SPOILERS!!!

He already spoiled a part of Ode to Kirihito, by telling me that a snake swallows a baby in it.

He also spoiled the endings of Lost World and Future World.

Ode to Kirihito is a brutally disturbing examination of moral decay. I'm currently reading it.

I found slightly MW more disturbing. But it depends.

By the way you can't call the Baby/Snake thing a spoiler. It's totally unimportant storywhise.

Didn't Tezuka also draw adult erotica?

I know he did. That was a rhetorical question.

The snake/baby thing is somewhat of a spoiler.

It probably would have been more shocking, if I didn't already know.

I'm up to chapter 2, in Ode to Kirihito.
