Dekobin

Also known as デコビン (Dekobin)

Hello, My Name (in English) is…

Dekobin. That’s my name.

Distinguishing Features

You can always spot Dekobin from his large fluffy white moustache and the coif of white hair over his bangs.

Status: Minor Star (★)

A hard working, “blue collar” family man, Dekobin’s kindly grandpa-like appearance belies his hot temper – a holdover from his slightly shady youth and something that still occaisionally gets the best of him.  Although he is usually cast as an innkeeper, or a saloon proprietor, his greatest strength is in roles where he is able to play the protagonist’s father.

Notable Roles

Following up on his debut as an innkeeper in Golden Bat (1947), Dekobin’s most memorable roles have been as Cactus‘ adoptive father, Chad in Mr. Cactus (1951-54), and as Shinichi Hoshi‘s father in Wonder 3 (1965-66).  He has also been spotted in Chief Detective Kenichi (1954-57) and Astro Boy (1952-68) chapter Subterranean Tank (1959), among others.
