Episode: 01 Title: A Departure Towards the Faraway Future (はるかなる出発) Original Air Date: 07/04/1989
One summer day, Kakeru finds a sick blue pony whom he rescues from a storm. The blue pony is named Blink and out of gratitude, Blink agrees to help Kakeru whenever he needs it. One day, Kakeru’s father was kidnapped by Emperor Gross. It’s up to Kakeru and Blue Blink to save him!
Episode: 02 Title: The Secret of Gray Farm (グレイ牧場の秘密) Original Air Date: 14/04/1989
On Kakeru and Blue Blink’s journey to find Kakeru’s father, they find a girl named Nelly who was being attacked by the citizens of Gray Town. It is revealed that Nelly’s mother is a wealthy but unpopular farmer that sells expensive meat. Nelly’s mother claims that she has Kakeru’s dad. If Kakeru agrees to work at Gray Farm for 3 months, she claims she will release his father.

Kakeru and Blink rescue an injured Prince Sharaku. Prince Sharaku tells Kakeru and Blink that the reason why he was injured was because he failed the test of Rose Mansion. These tests are run by a spoiled 6 year old girl named Princess Kirara. If someone completes the seven trials, then they would win the princess’s hand in marriage. Princess Kirara claims that she is keeping Kakeru’s father in prison and she would set him free if Kakeru succeeds on all of the trials.
Episode: 04 Title: The Tilted Ivory Castle (傾いたアイボリー城) Original Air Date: 28/04/1989
Princess Kirara joins Kakeru and Blink on their journey to find Kakeru’s father. Just then, they notice a truck being chased by a patrol car. The police arrest the parents in the truck, leaving their son Toby behind. Toby tells Kakeru to bring him to Ivory Town to rescue his parents. He also wants to go to Ivory Town in order for him and the townspeople to stop the renovation of Ivory Tower.
Episode: 05 Title: Monster Dogizura in Yellow Fortress (イエロー砦の妖怪ドギツラ) Original Air Date: 05/05/1989
On their journey to find Kakeru’s father, they enter Yellow Town. Yellow Town was once a beautiful place, but is now in ruins. Kakeru discovers that his father and the citizens of Yellow Town are being held prisoner in Yellow Fortress. The owner of the fortress, the Duke of Yellow Stone, promises to set free his father if Kakeru kills a monster named Dogizura.

Princess Kirara demands Kakeru’s friends to bring her a certain mysterious fruit for her to eat. Nitchi and Satchi bring her the fruit after she bribes them with a reward of $1,000. But once they pick the fruit from the tree, a magical child jumps out from the fruit. The child has magical powers that can make anyone feel relaxed. Because of this power, Kakeru and his friends suddenly lose their motivation to find Kakeru’s father.

The Baron Moss Green’s estate is running the great annual motorcar race. The Baron will the winner any wish. Due to this, Kakeru and his friends decide to compete in the race.

Kakeru’s and his friends arrive on Cobalt Island. Cobalt Island is a dreamlike isle where all your dreams come true. Because of this, Kakeru is able to reunite with his father. As Kakeru follows his father, he discovers the island’s terrible secret.

Kakeru and his friends arrive at Red Ball Island, a desert country. On Red Ball Island, Kakeru meets a boy named Chippi. Kakeru soon discovers how much power is valued on Red Ball Island, since Chippi was abandoned by his father because he thought that Chippi was weak.

Kakeru and his friends meet a girl named Poron. They discover that Poron’s mother is sick and she is on a quest to Sepia Forest to find a “life-saving mushroom” to heal her mother. Kakeru finds out that his father could also be in the same forest.

Kakeru and his friends come across a mechanical bird which takes them to Terrance town. The town people are friendly…at first. Suddenly, the once welcoming townspeople become suspicious and violent. Could this shift be a result of the town’s mysterious red, blue and yellow suns?

Amber Town is known for being populated by villains. However, when Kakeru and his friends arrive at Amber Town, they find it populated with kind-hearted people. The town had been re-named to Purple Town and Kusuneru, the supposed master of thieves, turns out to be a kind old man. What is really going on in Purple Town?

As Kakeru and his friends continue their quest to find Kakeru’s father, they came across Brown Town. The townspeople have been sent away to build castles and trains since the town is to be presented to Emperor Gross’s niece.

Kakeru and his friends arrive at Rainbow Town. Rainbow Town is a paradise for children since the town is run by children. However, the adults that live in Rainbow Town are suffering.

Kakeru and his friends meet an adventurer named Robert. Robert is looking for the “luminous ship”. Legend has it that a long time ago, a woman was taken away on a dark ship. The woman’s lover boarded the luminous ship in a quest to save her. It turns out Emperor Gross has the dark ship and he is forcing Kakeru’s father to board.
Episode: 16 Title: The Town of Fortune-Telling: Mint Green (占いの町・ミントグリーン) Original Air Date: 04/08/1989
Kakeru and his friends arrive at Mint Green, the town of fortune telling. Kakeru askes multiple fortune-tellers about his father’s whereabouts. However, due to Emperor Gross’s influence, they tell him nothing. A boy named Garoto tells Kakeru to visit the astrologer of Mint Valley for the answers.

The fortune-teller tells Kakeru that “The dark ship will appear on a full-moon night” Kakeru and his friends came across a temple, Milky White. Kakeru and his friends end up having to work at the temple as punishment because Nitchi and Satchi stole the “floating sand” from the temple.

Kakeru and his friends look for the Ultra-marine Plain. It is said that the tapir of the dark lives on the Ultra-marine Plain and that the tapir would lead them to the dark river. However, every time, Kakeru approaches the plain, the plain moves elsewhere. Kakeru meets a hunter named Pazu. Pazu tells Kakeru that his son died because the tapir ate his good dreams.

Kakeru and friends arrive at Happy Town. Some rabbit-like creatures, called Tiki-Tikis, rush in front of their bus because they are being pursued by a hunter. The hunter tells Kakeru and friends that the Tiki-Tiki are “the devil’s animals” and it’s better to shoot them. However, Kakeru saves them just in time.When they hear of his good deed, the local Tiki-Tiki aficionados decide to reward Kakeru’s actions…

Kakeru and his friends meet a plant doctor named Yozakku, who takes care of withering flowers and trees. Kakeru and his friends agree to help the doctor, so they head out for the town of Yellow Oaker since Yellow Oaker has plants that have been withered for a long time.

The Blue City of Persia is the imperial prison of Emperor Gross which is nearly impossible for prisoners to escape from. Kakeru and his friends arrive at the Blue City of Persia because Kakeru thinks that his father could be there.

(ディビーズグレイの伝説! ブリンクが化石になった!!)

Kakeru and his friends meet four boys out on a journey. The four boys are travelling to the village of Davies Gray to find the reputed luminous stone statues. Kakeru and friends decide to join the four boys on their quest. When they enter the cave where the statues are supposed to be, a landslide occurs and they must now focus on leaving the cave.

Kakeru and his friends stop by the Pearl Muu bus stop. Legend has it that the island of Pearl Muu sank due to a destructive earthquake but the islanders built a submarine city. To this day, they still live in Pearl Muu. When Kakeru and Blink arrive at the sea, Dassaro, a man who works for Gross, attacks them.

A tiger scares Kakeru and his friends when the tiger suddenly comes onto the bus. Then a mysterious person appears, calms the tiger down and takes the tiger back to the circus. It turns out this person is the leader of the Black Circus. The leader clams to have the ability to handle all animals with ease. Before he leaves the bus, the leader stokes Blink’s head, and during the night, Blink disappears.
Episode: 26 Title: Revive! The Butterflies of Scarlet River
(よみがえれ! スカーレット川のホタル蝶)

One day, a mysterious butterfly flies into the bus. It turns out that this butterfly is a “Hotaru butterfly”, a fictional butterfly that appears in Kakeru’s father’s stories. Kakeru and Blink follow the butterfly to see if it would lead them to a clue about his father’s whereabouts. Instead, they find Emperor Gross’s villa where they meet an ex-entomoligist called Nana. Kakeru and Blink finds out that Nana is using the Hotaru butterflies for revenge on Emperor Gross.
Episode: 27 Title: Mystery! The Castle of Adventures, Indigo (不思議!冒険の城インジゴ) Original Air Date: 10/11/1989
Princess Kirara gets kidnapped by the Black Knight. Kakeru and his friends track down the Black Knight and find themselves in an old castle. Kakeru and his friends discover that they have entered a world of wall paintings. In order to set Princess Kirara free, they have to win a duel with the Black Knight.
Episode: 28 Title: Love Again! Fierce Fight in the Wine Red Sea
(愛よ再び! ワインレッド海の死闘)

Emperor Gross puts Kakeru and friends on the Wanted list. Therefore, they flee to a town named Red. Baron Pasteur, the lord of the town, and his son invites Kakeru and friends to his palace. However, when Princess Kirara shows them the small whale that she found; Baron Pasteur becomes nervous.
Episode: 29 Title: Enemy or Friend? The Detective of Orange Stone
(敵か味方か!? オレンジストーンの名探偵)

Kakeru and his friends agree to help a detective named Frisbee. Frisbee determines that Kakeru’s father will appear at “Orange Stone”. However, this turns out to be a lie as Frisbee is an impersonator that is being manipulated by Emperor Gross. Kakeru and his friends arrive at Orange Stone and during their time there, Frisbee impersonates Kakeru’s friends, which cause them to turn against each other.
Episode: 30 Title: Find the Key of Truth! The Remains of Dark Purple Lake
(さがせ真実の鍵! ダークパープル湖の遺跡)

Kakeru and his friends discover that Kakeru’s father is kept captive in Dark Castle. However, they do not know how to get to Dark Castle. They suddenly reunite with the adventurer Robert He claims that “The Key of Truth” is in Dark Purple Lake and that it will lead them to the way into Dark Castle.
Episode: 31 Title: Gold Amber Valley (黄金のゴールドアンバー谷) Original Air Date: 15/12/1989
Kakeru and his friends obtain the “The Key of Truth” and make their way to Gold Amber Valley. However, Nitchi and Satchi break the key. They request Mahamaha to repair the key through his alchemy, but Mahamaha steals the key instead.

Kakeru and his friends arrive at Sky Blue City. Kakeru’s and his friends get arrested since Emperor Gross is praised as a hero and Kakeru’s father is viewed as a villain in Sky Blue City. However, the lord of the city is the cousin of Princess Kiara so Princess Kirara is treated well. Kakeru and the others escape from prison but for the sake of her happiness; they decide to leave the Princess in Sky Blue City.
Episode: 33 Title: Meeting Again! Mother and Child in the Dark Jail (再会!闇の牢の母と子) Original Air Date: 26/01/1990
On their way to the Dark Castle, Kakeru and his friends get swallowed up by a sphere. The sphere is known as a “Dark Jail”. The Dark Jail is a prison that Emperor Gross uses to confine people who are against him. Kakeru and his friends meet an alchemist named Rinjida. Rinjida has built a machine that has the ability to break walls. But the catch is that this machine needs large amounts of energy to run.
Episode: 34 Title: Lonely Kakeru! The Nightmare of the Dark Sea!!
(カケルひとりぼっち! 悪夢と闇の海!!)

On their way to Dark Castle, our heroes find they must cross the Dark Sea. Kakeru and his friends board a golden boat and set off. On their voyage, a fog engulfs the boat. They arrive at a beautiful city, but Kakeru finds his friends acting violent towards him.

Kakeru and his friends go through the desert and arrive at a big gate. At the gate, Kakeru begins to hear his father’s voice. Kakeru rejoices but then the Black Knight appears.

(闇の城へ! 勇気を持って立ち向かえ)

Kakeru and his friends are excited to arrive at Dark Castle. When they enter the castle they become constantly dogged by various attacks by Prince Horo. What’s worst, Princess Kirara seems to be supporting their adversary.

Kakeru and his human friends end up getting captured. In an attempt to save them, Blink uses up his electrical shocks and runs out of energy. Due to Blink’s lack of energy, Blink gets captured as well.

It turns out the minions of Emperor Gross that Kakeru had defeated have become zombies. Kakeru’s father can do nothing but watch as the zombies attack Kakeru and his friends.

Kakeru finds out that Emperor Gross is actually is father and that he was born from the evil side of Emperor Gross’s mind. Upon hearing the truth, Kakeru becomes depressed. Seeing this, his friends attempt to cheer him up. Nonetheless, the quest for his father is over and it’s time for Blink and Kakeru to depart.
