Red Snow (Manga)

Originally serialized from January and May, 1955 in the pages of the girl's monthly, Girl Friend, Tezuka's Red Snow (1955) is one of his lesser-known shojo adventure tales.

Shammy 1000 (Manga)

Tezuka's sci-fi tale about a race of alien cat-people, Shammy 1000 (1968) was originally serialized over the course of six months in High School Course 1 from April to September, 1968.

Osamu Tezuka's take on the French literary work, Cyrano the Hero (1953) was originally published over 7 monthly instalments, from April to November 1953, in Shonen Illustrated [少年画報] - sandwiched in between the first and second runs of Tezuka's cowboy adventure, The Cactus Kid (1951-54).

Ambassador Magma (Manga)

Originally serialized in Shonen Illustrated [少年画報] from May 1965 to August 1967, Ambassador Magma (1965-67) is Osamu Tezuka’s most recognizable entry in the long line of “giant robot” or mecha stories in Japanese manga adventures,

MW (Manga)

Originally serialized in Big Comic from September 1976 to January 1978, MW was created as part of Tezuka’s continued response to the Gekiga movement which opposed the cartoonish nature of Tezuka’s earlier works in both art and storytelling.

Message to Adolf (Manga)

Another of his adult-oriented dramas, Message to Adolf (1983-85) was originally published in the magazine journal, Weekly Bunshun, between January 1983 and May 1985. Similar in tone to MW (1979), it is considered Tezuka's final, completed, epic work.

Ludwig B (Manga)

Tezuka's unfinished symphony, Ludwig B (1987-89) was published in Comic Tom from June 1987 to February 1989 - ending abruptly, mid-story, with Osamu Tezuka's untimely death on February 9, 1989. A fictionalized biography, it is similar in (planned) scope to his earlier biographical manga series, Buddha (1972-83).

Castle of Dawn (Manga)

Originally published from September 1959 to March 1961 in Seventh – Eighth Grader, Osamu Tezuka’s Castle of Dawn (1959-61) is one of several samurai-style series, including The Shinsengumi (1963) and I Am Sarutobi (1960-61), which are set against the backdrop of important moments in Japan’s history.

Tree in the Sun, A (Manga)

Sometimes referred to as Tezuka’s Ancestor Dr. Ryoan, Osamu Tezuka’s series A Tree in the Sun (1981-86) was originally published in Big Comic from April 25, 1981 to December 25, 1986. Based on the life of Tezuka’s real-life ancestors, Ryoan Tezuka, it is one of Osamu Tezuka’s three medical dramas, with the other two being Ode to Kirihito (1970-71) and Black Jack (1973-83).

Originally published in Weekly Shonen King from April 28, to December 22, 1968, Noman (1968) is another of Osamu Tezuka’s science-fiction team adventure stories depicting humanity’s struggle for survival against an opposing alien enemy
