Livejournal is a great place if you would like to blog about your life/fandom and get in touch with other people, who are sharing your thoughts and interests. I own my Livejournal for over five years now and I'm really happy with it because as a result this, I was able to meet so many wonderful people (like Solitarybird xD) and some of those even became close friends of mine.
Like Solitarybird already mentioned, there are plenty of communities for anime and manga fans on Livejournal.
