Tezuka In English Discussion Forums

It often happens that anime fans attend conventions, only to discover later that an online friend was also at the same convention, but the two didn't recognize each other. To combat that, I propose that anyone interested in trying to meet up at conventions should post here the list of upcoming conventoins they intend to attend, so if there is any overlap people can get together.

I think it would be excellent if, eventually, sevearl of us got organized enough to apply to run a panel on Tezuka at some upcoming convention, since I'm sure we could do a great job. Probably a 2007 convention would be best, maybe Otakon. Would anyone else be interesetd in working on that?

I wish I'd gotten that message earlier - we could've gotten together.

Otakon this year was excellent, with more Tezuka showings than ever before! There were screenings of the new RightStuf releases of Kimba and Astro Boy, plus untranslated original Japanese showings of Cleopatra, 1001 Arrabian Nights, Dororo and the Belladonna movie, which was made by Mushi productions.

They were all excellent, though once again the poor Tezuka fans were frustrated by having all our showings scheduled from either 12 midnight to 2:30 AM or at 9 AM, so we had very little chance to sleep, and in the latenight showings there were drunks wandering in and out making noise. I talked to the staff about it at the feedback session, though, so hopefull next year we won't have such rough scheduling for the Tezuka selections.
