Is the Triton of the Sea Anime good

Just wondering is the Triton of the Sea anime good?

My children liked it but I found it really crap, nothing like the manga.

I heard that the sub is bad is that true?

I have the french subtitles, I don't remember if they are good, but it is the story by itself that doesn't make any sense.

I have the DVD set, & sadly do not speak Japanese, so cannot comment on whether or not the story makes sense, but I do enjoy it. Some episodes may be more or less unrelated to an overall plot, though I think otherwise, but it does seem interesting. For instance, two of the henchmen are each wanting the honor of killing Triton, & are thus interfering with each one's attempts to do so. This conflict continues for several episodes, & I will leave it at that. Some like it, others may not.
