Who's your favorite Tezuka character?

It's an inevitable question... who's your favorite of Tezuka's recurring cast?

Sadly, the forums have a maximum on the number of options in any poll, so I had to leave a lot of people off. If yours isn't on the list, just post it here. Given room, I would have listed Pinoko, Melmo, Unico, Dr. Tenma, Dr. Tezuka, Kenichi, Atlas, Lamp, Skunk and Ham Egg, among others.

ah, my favorites are those little bouncy characters that come out of now where in all his stories..
What are their names?

Do you mean Hyoutantsugi? That's the odd little thing that looks like a patchwork pig, but is actually a mushroom, that appears in just about all Tezuka series. He has some other bouncy little characters too, though, like Spider, or the spirit thing from Rainbow Parakeet, but Houtantsugi is the most characteristic one.

There's actually a novel about Hyoutantsugi that he wrote late in his career - I've never found a copy, though, so I don't know what it's about.

Rainbow Parakeet is special to me, as is Sapphire. And Rock is a perennial favorite.
But at the moment, I'm in the middle of volume 8 of Buddha, which makes it very difficult to be rational.
I really can't pick just one.

Megami-sama help you if you don't like BJ. Seeing as he was my fave from the listed ones, I chose him, though honestly, he was tied with a few others. Rock, Kiriko, Alabaster... Sharaku would have been a good runner-up, along with Pinoko and maybe Biwamaru.

Higeoyaji hasn't showed up enough in what I've managed to get of Tezuka stuff so far [which admittedly isn't much, and he HAS shown up quite a bit, but mostly seemed rather inconsequential] but he's definitely a great character. He's one of the characters who have managed to remain more-or-less completely purehearted in all his uses.

I voted Rock. I really love how he develops over the stories he is in, so he got extra awesomepoints for that along with the fact I just like him. ;p

Blackjack, Kimba, Astro...they're all way up there on my list. I'm inordinately fond of Atlas and Tenma, too. And Tezuka himself. Oh, and Uran and Phoenix - token girls thrown in there.
