Aparently Tezuka Production Co. is looking for artists to redesign Astroboy's appearance (even if it means unhappy fans).
"Atom-kun has been authorised by Tezuka Production Co. In fact, it was the company that asked Franky to make the new version of Astro Boy.

Er, it's not really any different from the or or any other of the many redesigns that pop up for a product line; it's just another artist's take on the character. This happens pretty much all the time and always with Tezuka Pro's blessing.
It's nothing permanent, so no need to panic. ^^; You make it sound like the original's being replaced!
