I just found an article congaing more of the voice over cast list for the Astro Boy movie.
"Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy are on board to lend their voices. Freddie Highmore voices the title character."

I look at this list and see one of my favorite comedians Nathan Lane. Then there's Nicolas Cage most recently seen in Disney's National Treasure 2 (as well as other movies). I recognize some of the other actors too. This list makes me even more anxious for this movie's release.

Holy snapple crapple, NICOLAS CAGE?! :shock:

I wonder...

I hope they don't sound obnoxious like most english voice actors. I've only heard of Nicolas Cage and that's it.

I have some new info today. At the Anime Expo 2008 (Booths #913 and #915), Imagi will be appearing and introducing Astroboy to the hundreds of attendees (I'm pretty sure a couple of hundred people attend this expo). As well as showing off their progress on the movie they will be giving away a limited amount of Astroboy t-shirts.

Here's another tidbit, an interview with Director David Bowers and Producer Maryann Garger.

here are some passages from the article located at this link

"I wanted to produce a film about Astro Boy that would sort of live up to the legend of Astro Boy and do him proud. It didn't want to make it cheap or pop-culturey. That's what's very sort of very popular in modern animation. Really, I just wanted to take it and make a fairly straight film, emotionally. It's really a very emotional story. The basic story is very, very sad about a boy robot who's built to replace a scientist's dead son and then the scientist finds he can't love him and throws him out. He has to go through all levels of Hell to sort of find his place in the world."

"Nicolas Cage, for example, was perfect for the role of Doctor Tenma, Astro's father."
