Open Mouth Smiling Faces look horrible wrong in anything outside of Manga. You will never see an Open Mouth non-manga CGI smile that looks right.

I will bet you 100-1 that is the exact reason why they won't show him with his mouth open and smiling.

Here are the problems associated with open mouth smiling:

1. 3d texturing
2. 3d depth.
3. Shadowing.

Apply those to a wire mesh and you will not be able to create a 3d open mouth smile that looks even remotely close to what you're going for.

Guess what, I found out whos playing Dr. Tenma, Nicolas Cage. He stated in an interview "I play the mad scientist father who creates Astro Boy and it is an animated movie.

so, i've heard some fast food resturant is going to get toys to the new movie. Which one would you like it to be? I'm hoping it's McDonalds. They often get good Happy Meal toys ^^

Another actor joins the cast Matt Lucas



"Matt Lucas is set to voice a character in CGI animated film Astro Boy, it's been reported.

The 34-year-old British comic - who found fame in Little Britain - joins a stellar cast including Hollywood stars Nicolas Cage and Donald Sutherland and Heroes actress Kristen Bell, reports MTV.com.

The Imagi Studios flick is set in the future and follows a young robot, his search for acceptance and his battle to save his city.

Astro Boy himself will be voiced by young actor Freddie Highmore, who is known for movies such as August Rush and The Spiderwick Chronicles.

The superhero film - which will be directed by David Bowers - is due to arrive in cinemas in 2009."

I heard Jazzwares Inc (makers of Mega Man and Mortal Kombat toys) has the license to do the Astro Boy toys

If you go to IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) they have listed who most of the Actors and Actresses announced so far are going to voice.

It's already been disused that we definitely don't want Imagi to use the name Astro-Girl (if she actually appears), but what about some of the others listed here.

Would you prefer Cachatore to Ham Egg. Would you prefer Professor Ochanomizu or even Dr O'Shay to Dr. Packadermus Elefun.

I personal would have preferred Professor Ochanomizu to Elefun. Since that is the name used in the Dark Horse Translations of Astroboy. My last choice would have been Dr. Elefun. That name keeps reminding me of the NOW Astroboy comics I have (which were completely unofficial).

Hmm, a few new ones & so far, a few regular characters are missing.

I would've definitely preferred Dr O'Shay or Dr Ochi. Since they're choosing to go with Elefun that spells doom for Uran --- Astro Girl.

I think it makes some sense to use the names with which most people are familiar; hence, Elefun rather than Ochanomizu.
