Well, that's one way to look at it.

I just think it's a lost opportunity for them to redefine Astro Boy to American Audiences with the Tezuka Standard Names.

Oh dear god, DON'T CALL HER ASTRO GIRL!! I can understand using Elefun (Though I personally would've prefered Ochanamizu or O'Shay) since that's the name used in both the 60s and 80s translations

Well, the used Uran in the 80's dub, too, so there's a chance of that as well.

Here's another news item I recently heard. The Astroboy videogame based off of the Movie is being made by the videogame company D3 (not Sega this time).

I just found a link to a site confirming this news.

"The original anime is ready to return to games. D3Publisher announced today that it has secured the worldwide publishing rights for games based on the upcoming computer-animated feature film Astro Boy."

It goes on to state the two games Sega came out with Astroboy Omega Factor and the Astroboy PS2 game and how good (or not how good) each one did.

then the article states

"D3's Astro Boy games are set for release on consoles and handheld systems to coincide with the film's launch in October of 2009. "

I heard the guy behind it hates how most animated movies are being chalk full of popculture refrences. He said he doesnt want Astro Boy to be like that. Yes! I have high hopes for this thing.

Yeah, I don't really like it either... But it's nice that they made a movie in the first place..? What I'm afraid of is what happened with Speed Racer, people will watch the movie with no prior knowledge of the original.

Well, puberty might factor into the equation. How old is Freddie Highmore? He might be a little deeper than he was in The Spiderwick Chronicles. Not that he couldn't pitch up his voice a little, especially for an animated role.
