I am sure I addressed the differences between the English-language version' dialogue & the original version's dialogue in my review of this story. Granted, I do not speak Japanese, but as indicated, I did not hear any of several words for heart in the JLV. Furthermore, having a heart is one of Atom's fundamental characteristics from the very start.

Oh ok, so the lack of having a heart is only for the English Dub of 1963, and the Japanese Dub was different?

Well in that case it'd be true then that the 2003 reset Astro back to his fundamentals?

Good lord, didn't Astroboy cry enough in the manga to have something resembling a heart--at least in a metaphorical kind of way? We're back to that sort of P.K.Dick sort of rationale--if the non-human things are more human than humans are...?
