Could Astro Boy have been inspired by Disney's Pinocchio, with all the "real boy" stuff?

They are somewhat similiar...

I don't exactly know about Pinoko being named after Pinnochio but I have a loose belief in that since they are so similar. As for the Kimba, the White Lion-The Lion King Controversy, I don't have much belief in it.[/i]

I don't remember where I read that Pinoko was named after Pinnochio but it was a reliable source, possibly somewhere on the Tezuka World site.

As for the Lion King and Kimba thing I used to just think it was silly but the more Kimba I watch and read the more conspicuous the similarities become. Still, Tezuka borrowed from Disney all the time, so in my opinion it's almost fair.

All I know was that Pinoko's appearance was copied from a girl in a reference Black Jack saw.

I heard in an OVA or something she sings a song on Pinnochio...
