Hi all, I've been lurking awhile so I guess it's time to say hello.
I've always liked Tezuka's work (one of my earliest memories is watching the 80s Astro Boy) but lacked exposure to it; Kimba, Metropolis and Astro were all I'd seen until recently. Then I moved to Japan.
Japan has been extremely dangerous to my wallet.
Since then I've been really into pretty much everything Tezuka I can get my hands on, and living in the Kansai region (20 minutes from Kyoto, 40 from Takarazuka), there certainly is a lot. Right now I'm really into Ribon no Kishi and Black Jack (the anime is rerunning on satellite TV all the time!), occasionally Melmo and slowly working my way through Hi no Tori. But...my top Tezuka title is without a doubt Mittsume ga Tooru, the Three-Eyed One. I'm taking my time reading the manga and watching the anime at the same pace so I don't finish them off too fast! I think this series is so underrated (probably because there's not much to go on for English speakers) and unfortunately none of my friends are willing to give it a shot. So if I can't convert people into Tezuka fans, I figured I'd go find some people who already are Tezuka fans.
I also have been working on a small and crappily-designed Mittsume ga Tooru website (I hope it's OK to post the link, please edit if that's against the rules o.o) to hopefully interest more people in the series. if you're so inclined!
Anyway, so, hi! I hope to get to know everyone soon. ^_^
