Phoenix Volume 12, out in stores now!

My comics shop has books 2, 4, 5 and 12 for me so far. I've told them that some of them are very hard to backorder but they've ordered them all for me and if they can't get any in through Australia they'll see what they can do contacting America. They'll do their best at least.

Volume 1 surely has been reprinted. It's evens tanding in my comicstore in Switzerland, so you surely should get Volume 1 too. ^^

First, go ahead and pick up vol. 2, 4, and 5 (and given your tastes, 12 as well) from your comic book store. 2 & 4 are among the best in the series. 5 is great too. They each stand alone, though 5 makes some connections with vol. 2, so you should be all set.

Second, use the internet. I think all or virtually all of the volumes are available on the internet (many for really cheap). You don't need to limit yourself to comic stores. Most on-line book vendors will carry these.

So I finally got my volume in (damn you Viz, for not printing enough Daigo!) and was... not really dissappointed as I wasn't expecting much of it, but I can't say I liked it. If seen separate of the Phoenix series it's an OK early Tezuka, but I liked the SF trilogy adventures more than this volume.

Yeah, it isn't particularly special. More interesting that Tezuka was already contemplating some of these ideas. As I said earlier, it is hard to think of it as more than a minor entry. Still, I'd have to disagree with you about this being inferior to the sci-fi trilogy. Perhaps it is because I do not hold lost/future(next?)/metropolis in particularly high esteem.
