Disney just recently released The Three Caballeros, after years of trying to push it forward onto dvd, which is considered one of the most racist cartoons from Disney (up there with Song of the South). Song of the South is considered the most racist movie from Disney ever, that is what is keeping it from being released onto dvd.
So I can see Kimba upsetting some people enough that it would be held up for a while before being released. If SOTS upsets people enough to prevent it being released then I have doubts that a comic with a little more racism will be released any time soon.

I think "On the Front line" is far more racist. But there they just released it because of "cartoon history".
The same counts for Kimba somehow though. It's manga history. As long as they advertise it like that.

Although I don't think Kimba is really that racist. Especially not compared to old Disney/Warner cartoons. I really can't see some people demonstrating or filing a lawesuit because of a manga from the 50's. Really, I can't. Not even in America.

Neither Kimba nor Jungle Emperor are racist, period. It definitely isn't implied. Yes, the depiction of Africans is silly, but so is the depiction of everyone. It is just that the Africans have certain stereotypical traits emphasized that might offend someone.

Meanwhile, HP Lovecraft genuinely was racist. He's not out of print, and we're a better world for it.
