The great thing about the illustrated and animated genre is that you can do ANYTHING with it. There is a quote in the manga from Garai that goes something like "He (Yuki) can change himself into a woman to capture the souls of pure men...". I think Tezuka used that more in a subconcious manner, and not litteraly meaning that Yuki could, in fact, morph into a woman. But transformation is a big part in the manga, and depending on what a character feels or believes in can be reflected in their appearence. Because of this, Yuki was able to pose as so many people without anyone ever catching on. That would be nearly impossible to capture in a live action movie, and certainly unlike the manga, where sometimes even I didn't know who was Yuki and who wasn't.
