The grossly inaccurate "Anime News Network" rating scale says it's for "All Ages".

There was a thread, on Anime News Network, by that caseclosedfan*number* guy, called "Anime Ratings Sometimes Lax?", I believe Tony K. locked the thread, "since nobody seems to really care", or something.

I have yet to read Buddha, however I'm dying to read it (along with pretty much every other of Tezuka's mangas that I haven't read yet).

Yeah, I see Rock as a good Judas - he's tried to kill the Phoenix often enough, and Tezuka, and Buddha and BJ, so killing Jesus is about the same, right?

BTW, Tezuka did actually do a series of animated Bible Stories called "In the Beginning" I have his Adam & Eve, but he did a whole big set of them, and you can sometimes run across out of print dubbed English or Spanish vhs copies of them. Sadly he seems to have made all new character designs for them and not reused any real characters - sad, that. As usual, the animation is far less daring than the manga.
