Imagine Ken'ichi as a Bond villain!

He could pose as an innocent childlike sidekick, but at the very end reveal himself to be the mastermind!

Rock could be the "red-herring" villain, until then.

It would work if the Bond movies weren't so formulaic (and Tezuka's star system a little looser).

Remember the homosexual assassins in the movie "Diamonds Are Forever"? What if Yuki played Mr. Wint and Garai played Mr. Kidd? After MW they'd fit into these roles so easily.

To be honest I'm really stuck for imagining somebody other than Rock to play Bond. But Rock plays both good and bad roles so I still think he could be Bond just as easily as a villian.
If Rock is to be a baddie I could see him as either Necros from The Living Daylights or Dario from Licence To Kill.

If I have any further ideas I'll share them too.

It's crossed my mind just now that perhaps Dr. Tenma would make an even better Q than Shunsaku-Ban.

I hold Tezuka in extremely high regard.

But, there are other cartoonists that I also hold in such regard, and one of these is the great Jhonen Vasquez!

Anyway, let's see what we end up with when we take Vasquez's signature work "Johnny The Homicidal Maniac" (Although, I think "Squee!" and especially "I Feel Sick" are even better, but you have to have read JTHM to understand them since they feature characters from JTHM), and recast Tezuka characters in the roles.

Tick and Tock as "D-Boy" and "Mr.Eff" (couldn't you just see them as demonically possessed Pillsbury Doughboys arguing constantly over whether Tenma should commit suicide or not?)

I would favour Duke Red personally. Tenma can certainly have his faults, especially in 2000's Astroboy version, but Red is the more vehemently evil-natured of the two in my opinion.
