For me, Jetter Mars always played out like a bright, pop art Astro Boy clone, with Tezuka characters swimming through it.
It's really interesting to see how the original story can be played out again...both of Jetter's father figures are working together, he has an older sister, he can grow, he gets an infant robot brother made for him...there's some Spanish versions of the show on Youtube, if you want to check it out first.
The animation is sort of dated, but it's about the same quality of the 80's series. Think of every happy or comedic moment from that series, and there you are (although the show sometimes features sombre moments). It's like the world of Astro Boy became colourful and filled with weird machinery, and all the characters were shuffled around. In example...
All in all, it's pretty fun, although some of the "Who-Steals-Jetter-This-Week" episodes may seem repetitive. I haven't ever seen the whole series, or in Japanese, but if you really want to buy it and have plenty of money, you'd probably like it.
