60s more. They're the same melody, but I like how the 60s one does it with the orchestra rather than the almost techno-popish sound

That's a good point. I hadn't thought much about how the two themes are basically based upon the same tune presented in different ways.

I think I'd have to say "Dororo no Uta" is the catchiest. Although my japanese is very poor. I've always wondered what the lyrics would translate to in english. I've been told it is mostly childish nonsense, but I can pick up a few lines like:
These are rough phrases that I can understand:

akai yuuhi ni terihaete
reflecting the red beam of dusk

moeru yoroi ni moeru uma
flaming armor and flaming horse

Sorry if this isn't accurate... wondering if anyone who is better with japanese could help with translating or even romanizing this song. I have seen the song romanji on this site and tried to figure out what the english might be.
I also heard that a CD of Tezuka OP and Ending themes may have had the lyrics in kanji. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

I'd have to say it's a tie between the Melmo theme song

(so cute, kiddy, repetitive....gets stuck in my head)

and the Astro Boy theme, which IS totally catchy.

My Japanese isn't great by FAR, but while most of it really does some to be childish nonsense (nonetheless very cute, clever, and very funny nonsense), the segment sung slowly by an older woman's voice strikes me as more meaningful.

My grasp on Japanese grammar is a bit weak, but I tried to take a swing at very roughly translating it.

For tenka,

I've gathered that tenka is the Japanese version of the Chinese phrase "tian xia " which means "everything under heaven" or "all under heaven." I think it also carries other conotations, though...

Someone with more knowledge than me can probably do a better job of translating this.

That certainly doesn't sound like nonsense to me. It sounds to me rather sad and futile sounding, which I think matches the tone here.
