At the moment I am in the process of reviewing the entire series of Astroboy manga books for the wiki at ABO but if there is still going to be a general Tezuka wiki here at TIE as I've heard perhaps I might be able to do something to help when I finish my current project?

This probably won't happen after all. Dr. Jerk decided to leave the site, and this was mostly her pet project.

It could always be a possibility for the future though.

I hope so. I think it is a well worthwhile idea.

I'm really sorry to break it to all of you, but the Tezuka wiki has been cancelled.

Just to clarify it, this doesn't reflect my opinion about the Tezuka wiki and neither has this been my decision. I'm just the bearer of bad news since Dr. Jerk asked me to break the (sad) news about this project to all of you.
"I'm not in at the moment. If you are in need of medical attention, please leave your name, telephone number, nature of your complaint, seriousness of your condition, and how much you can afford to pay me. I'll get back to you later."

I don't really think that's too big of a problem, considering we can always make another one down the road. I know the mockup is still up (maybe we should link the mockup here? got a bunch of pages on it already) and I've been trying to back it up in case we want to transfer it somewhere else.

I'd like to say that, while not a Wiki per se, Tezuka in English is a fan community based website. If anyone would like to make contributions, they're more than welcome to do so. Because of the nature of the site, mostly in an attempt to create order from the mountain of content (actual and potential), not everyone would have free access to edit anything like they would in a Wiki environment. However, that really shouldn't stop people from generating content and sending it to me or F-man to edit and upload.

Slowly but surely I've been cleaning up, organizing and adding to the content on the main site. While it's true TiE in the past has fallen into dis-use, this had a lot to do with the fact that the webmaster was missing in (in)action. With the upgrade to the forums and site re-design, that's changed. We're looking to turn Tezuka In English into THE English-language Teuka resource.

I'll take a moment here to explain the structure of the site, so feel free to browse it, find areas that need fleshing out (or creation!) and contact me to discuss how the content should be done.

From the main navigation bar:

Home: home page, with news and announcements and "did you know" facts about Tezuka - feel free to send in some interesting ones if you've got them. They rotate randomly when you load the page.

News: obviously the main news page/archive. Let me know if you'd like to become a news reporter.

Series: these are the series page - split down into anime and manga (if necessary). The most complicated example is probably Astro Boy. The first page will be a general introduction to Astro Boy, basically saying it's Tezuka's most famous creation, long running manga series, three separate anime series, etc. Then the manga page will explain more in-depth about the manga, and the anime page will explain more about the three series (1963/1980/2003), and then each anime series will have a page dedicated directly to that.

For some series (like Rainbow Parakeet for example), there will only be a manga page because there is no anime.

Characters: This explains Tezuka's Star System. Every "actor" will have a page (listed in alphabetical order) that will give a bit of background about the actor, his characteristics, notable roles, etc.

Translations: This lists out and explains the various works officially released in different languages. The English one (obviously) will be the most complete. There's a table of all English manga released and each series links to a sub-page giving information about the release and a link to buy it at Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. There are key differences between (for example) the Astro Boy manga page in the Series section (which list the original Japanese publication dates and information on all the manga stories) and the Astro Boy manga page in the Translations section (which explains when Dark Horse published the series, how many volumes, why the stories are out of order, etc.).

We also need lots and lots of information on Tezuka releases in other languages, so if you'd like to put it together, let me know.

Analysis: This is where you can find essays about Tezuka and his works, and books written about Tezuka (or at least mentioning him). All the books pages also have links to Amazon.ca and Amazon.com to buy from. I should mention, if you buy any of this stuff through TiE links, it will help out the site in a small way. ;)

Merchandise: This section helps people figure out how to buy cool Tezuka stuff. The Manga page is basically some resources about how/where to buy other language editions of Tezuka manga (as well as out-of-print English manga). The Anime/Soundtracks page will deal with specific CD/DVD (or VHS I guess...) releases. This is different than the Series>Anime pages because (again using Astro as an example) the Series>Anime page will say "There's X number of episodes in the 2003 Astro Boy series" and the Merchandise>Anime page will tell you "You could buy it in English in the North American release, but the Korean release has English subtitles, is better quality, and here's where you might find it..."

Fans & Fun: Pretty self-explanatory. Wanna dress up as a Tezuka character and take a picutre? send it to us for the Cosplay gallery. Did some cool artwork? send it to us.

That just leaves...

Discussion Forums: Well, if you're reading this, no explanations should be necessary~ ;)

If we really want to make one I don't see why we can't.

I could pitch in on 2772 stuff, and perhaps some others.
