Official video game thread

Still really enjoying No More Heroes, but as always the caveat that this is not a game for everyone (especially being rated 17+ and all that.)

What really makes the game is its own self-awareness. The cooler-than-cool Travis Touchdown who is also an all-time loser. Imagine Capcom being aware how dorky Devil May Cry's Dante was, so instead of having to spend your orbs on power ups, you spent them on buying the coolest/goofiest wardrobe for your character. Yes, Travis is looking more and more like either James Dean or Nicolas Cage from Wild at Heart ever chance I get to play the game. Meanwhile, this cooler-than-cool top assassin has kittens to rescue and lawns to mow so he can save up enough money to pursue his absurd dream of being the top assassin in the world.

Yeah, that's where my head is at now.

Finally got a Wii (with No More Heroes and Fire Emblem)

I don't think the Wii is any sort of dream console, but it has its moments. Obviously Mario Galaxy and Zelda are the sort of obvious 'duh' purchases, but still worth mentioning. I love Endless Ocean, but that's me. Resident Evil 4 is better than ever (truly worth the repurchase) and Opoona is a weird rpg that much to my tastes. I'm currently messing around with Baroque, but really, it is hard at this point to recommend dozens of great titles for the system. The wii really doesn't have that many great games yet.
