"WRONG!" Pinoco wagged a stubby index finger in the face of this stranger. "Black Jack IS the perfect doctor! Just you wait and see!" She "hmph!"-ed and strutted her cute little self over to Black Jack, and stood on her toes to get a good glimpse of Sensei and his patient. "What is it, Sensei?"

Wato propped open the door of the dining room and rushed to the tables beyond. Ignoring the damage done to the plates and glasses already set out for luncheon, she cleared two tables and pushed them together to form one large enough for the patient to lie down. "I'll get some hot water from the kitchen, sensei. Is there anything else you need?"

Black Jack carefully laid Sapphire on the cleanest-looking table and turned to Pinoco. "I will have to operate here. Start setting up an operating table and make it quick. She's tough," he said, indicating the patient, "but needs treatment right away."

"Aye-aye!" Pinoco saluted, and skipped to Black Jack's briefcase. In routine quickness, she had set up the surgical site, and held up Black Jack's scrubs for him to put on. "Here you go!"

Wato started filling the largest pot she could find with water, then rushed back to the table. "May I stay and help doc? Sapphire's my friend, I don't like to leave her alone." She looked to the door, and Lamp and the new boy Kenichi beyond. "Though I guess... it's your call what's better for the patient."

Black Jack flicked off his cape and donned his scrubs with ritualistic ease. "You can stay here for now," he said as he donned the gloves, "but I would like you to step outside once the surgery actually commences, understand? Pinoco, the sleeve, if you please?"

Wato frowned worriedly at Sapphire as Pinoko started laying out the instruments. "Okay, if you think it's better if I'm not here... but I'll be right outside if you nead anything, got it? Right outside. But first the water!" she added, rushing back to the kitchen to fetch the now-overflowing pot.

"All of my patients have survived," he replied to the young boy as he tied his cap on. "But not all of them had the will to live afterward. So if you only count the surgery itself, then the answer is yes."

"Yes!" Pinoco nodded, and helped Black Jack slip his arm through his sleeve with ease. She tugged on his scrubs, gesturing him to squat down so she could tie everything good and tight.

Sapphire helped Pinoko roll up his/her sleeve and bare his/arm, its young skin striped with the darkening bulges of clotted veins beneath.

"It's okay, Wato. You can wait outside. If you know this doctor, and the nice detective recommends him, then I think probably we can trust him. Am I right doc?" Sapphire held Black Jack's eyes. "Can I trust you?"
