Easy come, easy go…

“Easy come, easy go…”

When a horrific airplane crash occurs, all the passengers are doomed to die.  However, the plane just happens to have comes crashing down onto the mysterious “Mountain of Life” – home to a hidden reserve of the energy that serves as the basis of all living creatures.  As such, in the aftermath of the crash, small stones and dust infused with this energy rain down on eight of the crash victims and allow them to miraculously survive.

Unfortunately, the leader of the spirit world doesn’t take kindly to someone siphoning off his power and sends two spirits, in the borrowed bodies of two of the recently deceased crash victims, to recover the missing stones. And so, the boy Misaki and the girl Satsuki confront each of the survivors, knowing that returning the stone means certain death!

This tale of living on borrowed time comes to us courtesy of Osamu Tezuka’s Dust 8 (1972).
