Jungle Emperor [aka Kimba] (Anime)

Also known as ジャングル大帝 (Junguru Taitei)

There are several animated versions of Jungle Emperor. Although the most famous is the original 1965-66 television series, the list also includes the 1966 theatrical movie, the 1966-67 television sequel, Jungle Emperor: Onward, Leo!, the Symphonic Poem, the 1989 television series, New Jungle Emperor, the 1997 theatrical movie, Jungle Emperor Leo, and the 2009 television special, Jungle Emperor: The Brave Can Change the Future.

Jetter Mars (Anime – 1977 TV Series)

Jetter Mars (1977) made its debut on the Fuji Television Network on February 3, 1977. Although considered a mild success, as redesign rather than an actual remake of the classic Astro Boy (1963-66) animated television series, it received a rather cool reception by the viewing public and lasted on 27 episodes.

Despite following on the heels of the full-colour Princess Knight (1967-68) animated television series, due to budget restrictions, Dororo (1969) was a black and white animated television series broadcast on the Fuji Television Network from April 6 to September 28, 1969, for a total of 26 episodes.

Note: The Black Jack OVA series, which originally consisted of ten episodes, was produced and released from 1993 to 2000 and is still one of the most popular Black Jack animation series.

While Black Jack already had some cameo appearances before this OVA series in other Tezuka works, like his televised appearance in the Astro Boy (1980-81) TV series (episode 26/27 “The Time Machine”), as well as in other various TV specials or movies, like One Million Year Trip: Bandar Book (1978), Undersea Super Train: Marine Express (1979) or Phoenix 2772 (1980), this was his first animated stand-alone series.
