Visually based on his real-life namesake, Fujio is thin, with small eyes and wide, thin mouth.

A real-life pioneer Japanese artist of comical manga known as the “Gag Manga King”, Fujio Akatsuka was born in Rehe, Manchuria, as the son of a Japanese military police officer. After World War II, he grew up in Niigata Prefecture and Nara Prefecture. When he was 19, he moved to Tokyo.
Notable Roles
As a contemporary and friend of Osamu Tezuka, Fujio Akatsuka has appeared, primarily as himself, in a couple of Tezuka’s manga. Although his roles in Tales of Tokiwa Apartments (1970) and Lunatic Japan (1974) were bit parts, they add a certain level of realism to the stories.
