Cusco
Also known as クスコ (Cusco)
Hello, My Name (in English) is…
Cusco’s name is derived from her hometown, Cuzco, a city in southeastern Peru.
Distinguishing Features
A rather rotund figure with a short, wing-like hairdo, Cusco can usually be spotted wearing her trademarked white-circle-and-black-square patterned dress – often paired with one of those great traditional Peruvian hats.
Status: Primary Star (★★★)
Despite being the archetypical family matron, don’t let her slightly frumpy, middle-aged appearance deceive you. As a witch from Peru, Cusco has a flair for the dramatic and can run a household like no one else.
Notable Roles
Although her titular role is as Takao and Hinako’s slightly odd Aunt who arrives from Peru and uses her magic witchcraft to hilarious effect in the short 4-panel gag manga, Good Morning, Cusco! (1971-72), Cusco is arguably best know for her numerous appearances in Black Jack (1973-83), where she was often called upon to play the role of the devoted (and often worried) wife/mother.
