The Blue Knight’s name in English is a literal translation of the Japanese words (ao) meaning “blue” and (kishi) meaning “knight”.

Distinguishing Features

Accompanied by his flying robotic horse, Blue Knight’s appearance reflects his European medieval inspired origins, complete with a suit of robotic armour and winged helm.

Status: Secondary Star (★★)

An advanced robot with powerful combat capacity and a flying robotic horse, the Blue Knight is a champion of robot rights and has the capacity to enable other robots to rebel against human commands.

Notable Roles

The Blue Knight made his first appearance in the Astro Boy (1952-68) Chapter, ‘Blue Knight’ (1965-66).  Although the Blue Knight only appears in Astro Boy (1952-68), he is probably Astro’s second most important adversary, after Atlas.

Beyond the manga the Blue Knight also appears in all the animated Astro Boy series as well as in some Astro Boy video games.
