Distinguishing Features
Professor “Y” can be spotted by his oval-shaped nose and the two large tufts of hair that stck out from his long-ish face, giving him the distinct appearance of the letter “Y”.
Status: Secondary Star (★★)
Professor “Y” is the original environmentalist. A firm believer in the natural world, he sees the beauty in nature and animals, and he’s not above a little criminal activity to see them preserved.
Notable Roles
Professor “Y” made his stage debut as Professor Felini, the environmental activist who faked his own death and reincarnation as the titular cat in the Astro Boy (1952-68) chapter, “Red Cat” (1953). He has also made a few appearances in Black Jack (1973-83) as well as a memorable appearance in The Rainbow Parakeet (1981-82) as Master Ushizawa, the original owner of the pantomine dog, Tamasaburo, that the Rainbow Parakeet inherits after his death.
