Mikazuki, Dr.
Also known as 三日月博士 (Mikazuki Hakase)
Status: Minor Star (★)
One of Tezuka’s earliest scientists, he was originally one half of a slightly comedic duo with his partner, Dr. Mangetsu – first played by Chiruchiru and then, later by Mokusan.
Although he is primarily known for his role in The Moony Men [Fuji Shobo] (1948) as well as the remake, The Moony Men [Manga Shonen] (1951), he has also appeared in small, yet similar roles in Chief Detective Kenichi (1954-58), Big X (1963-66), and Black Jack (1973-83).
Hello, My Name (in English) is…
Dr. Mikazuki’s name could be literally translated as “Crescent Moon”. An appropriate name for someone partnered with Dr. Mangetsu, which means “Full Moon”.
Distinguishing Features
Like his namesake, you can spot Dr. Mikazuki by his round glasses and arching, crescent-shaped head and hairdo.
