Given the indeterminate quality of the pronunciation of his name in Japanese (Buraddo), it could be either be a close approximation of the English words “Brad” or “Blood” – maybe both.

Distinguishing Features

This “bad boy” turns heads with his rugged good looks, the mischievous gleam in his eye, and his pirate-style sideburns.

Status: Secondary Star (★★)

Born into the nobility, but raised by pirates, Brad is strong, noble and brave, but with a mischievously dashing wild streak.  He and Sapphire feel a strong attraction for each other – much to the chagrin of Franz who is, unknowingly, Brad’s younger brother.

Notable Roles

Although he did not appear in the original version, his role as Captain Blood was one of several (along with Madame Hell and Venus) welcome new additions to the Princess Knight [Nakayoshi] (1963-66) remake.  Despite the fact that he has never appeared in another role, the dashing Pirate Captain was an unforgettable member of the ensemble cast.
