With his boyish good looks, he is the spitting image of every girl’s ideal “Prince Charming”.

A skilled athlete, good-looking, and the Prince of Silverland, Franz has it all.  Although he comes from a neighbouring kingdom, as Sapphire‘s one true love, he is earnest, loyal and will stop at nothing to be with her – including fighting off a witch named Madam Hell, her daughter Hecate, a devil-king named Saturn, and Captain Blood, the rogue-ish pirate who also has designs on Sapphire‘s heart.

Notable Roles

Although he is best known for his series-leading role as Prince/King Franz Charming in Princess Knight [Shojo Club] (1953-56), The Twin Knights (1958-59), and the remake Princess Knight [Nakayoshi] (1963-66), he also had a rather disturbing role, cast completely against type, as the abusive burn victim in the Black Jack (1973-83) chapter, “The Gray Mansion” (1974).
